We are seeking an experienced and motivated Traffic Signal and Lighting Lead for our Chicago, IL office who will be responsible for providing leadership on traffic engineering projects. You will coordinate with and provide support to other groups within STV and be involved with traffic engineering projects throughout Illinois and nationwide.

This position is for an individual with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Traffic Engineering and interested in working on transportation projects with State DOTs, local governments, and the private sector.

Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide and lead technical services on traffic engineering and lighting projects. Services may include traffic signal design, lighting design, signal timing analyses, illumination/lighting, ADA/sidewalk design, signing, and pavement marking and design.
  • Provide and lead traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact analyses, traffic signal timing plans, microscopic and macroscopic simulation modeling, signal warrants, speed studies, capacity analysis, traffic operations, safety analysis, and parking studies.
  • Develop final plans, specifications and estimate (PS&E) documents for services listed abovefor various state and local agencies while working with a larger team.
  • Prepare written reports and presentations of project results.
  • Direct engineering staff across experience levels to produce design documents and specifications
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, subconsultants, and other groups at STV to complete the necessary design tasks
  • Collaborate with other team leads on resource planning and internal workshare
  • Support development of project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Assist in developing proposals and other business development initiatives to drive growth
  • Ability to meet with client and public stakeholders and perform site visits in field as necessary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
  • Proven experience leading traffic signal design projects
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to collaborating closely with clients and other stakeholders beyond technical engineering teams
  • Passion for working on large, multi-disciplinary transportation projects with time sensitive schedules which require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills

Compensation Range:

$89,487.93 - $119,317.24
