Position Summary
The Calabrese Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Technician. The lab studies how long non coding RNAs and chromatin regulators cooperate to control gene expression in health and in disease.

This position is for a research technician at the contributing level and is well-suited for an early-career candidate with a foundational understanding of molecular biology who is enthusiastic about gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative, fast-paced academic research environment. You will work closely with a team of scientists on cutting-edge projects in genomics and gene regulation, with opportunities to deepen your practical skills and broaden your research experience. Responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance and passaging of mammalian cell cultures, working with RNA in various capacities, supporting CRISPR-based genome editing, and preparing samples for high-throughput sequencing experiments. The technician will also help maintain accurate lab records, contribute to lab organization and inventory, and support postdoctoral fellows and graduate students on ongoing research initiatives.

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Basic understanding of DNA plasmid cloning and PCR from academic or lab coursework.
Introductory knowledge of RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, and related sequencing technologies.
