Summary of Job Duties:The Extra Help Assistant will assist faculty in research, including data collection and statistics, and other tasks as assigned. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • If a current student, overall GPA of 3.5 or above.

Job duties and responsibilities

  • The employee will assist in overseeing statistical analysis and other related tasks.
  • The employee will be available to answer questions in a timely manner pertaining to area of expertise and as assigned.
  • Employee to be familiar with resources pertaining to area of expertise.
  • Employee to be familiar with broader areas of Statistics and be able to expand knowledge as needed.
  • This position will also be responsible for other duties as assigned by supervising faculty, including but not limited to the preparation of research materials, providing editing assistance, and reviewing materials for errors or inconsistencies.
  • During work hours the employee should be reachable by work channels (email, phone, or text).
  • The employee will be responsible for checking emails and other relevant communications portals.
  • Must be prompt in responding to communications
  • Must notify supervising faculty when circumstances prevent the employee from carrying out job responsibilities in a timely manner.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Ability to work well with others
  • Ability to clearly explain statistical concepts to students
  • Ability to complete all statistics lab assignments, using both R and Excel
  • Follow instructions well and assiduously
  • Accept constructive feedback and implement it effectively
  • Ability to prepare and present clear and concise oral and written instructions for statistics lectures and lab content
  • Knowledge of undergraduate statistics and affiliated content
