Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Physics is seeking to hire a Post Doctoral Fellow/Researcher. The Post Doctoral/ Researcher will contribute to cutting-edge research in quantum sciences (ExpandQISE: Track 2: QuAPB), working under the supervision of Dr. Gregory Guisbiers at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This position offers an opportunity to engage in high-impact research, contribute to scholarly publications, and develop independent research skills while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of research projects, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings through publications and presentations. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in physics by the time of appointment.

  • Experience in condensed matter physics particularly quantum effects and quantum confinement;

  • Proof records of success in research including peer-reviewed publications in physics.

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Experience in colloids;

  • Previous experience in mentoring students or leading research teams;

  • Grant writing experience;

  • Ability to independently design and carry out research projects.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and Experimentation

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in pulsed laser ablation in liquids;

  • Utilize advanced techniques in research;

  • Contribute to the development and optimization of new quantum materials.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Perform quantitative analysis of research data;

  • Use statistical and computational tools to interpret results and generate insights;

  • Present research findings clearly in written form and at research meetings

  • or conferences.

Publication and Dissemination

  • Publishing results into peer-reviewed journals;

  • Present research findings at conferences and seminars;

  • Prepare research reports, grant applications, and other written documents as required.

Collaboration and Mentorship

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams within and outside of the department;

  • Mentor graduate students, undergraduate students, or lab assistants in research activities;

  • Participate in regular lab meetings, team discussions, and workshops.

Grant Writing and Research Funding

  • Assist in writing draft of proposals to seek further funding;

  • Contribute to the preparation of progress reports and other funding-related documents;

  • Stay informed about funding opportunities in the relevant research field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in data analysis software and research tools (e.g., Mathematica, Origin);

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information effectively;

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment;

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

  • Strong skills in characterization techniques such as Dynamic light scattering, Atomic Emission spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Ultra violet-visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction...;

  • Attending conferences or visiting collaborators may be required;

  • Ability to conduct laboratory work or other related physical tasks as needed.
