Network Administrator (CCNA Preferred) Location: On-site across 14 locations in Connecticut
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (Potential for Full-Time) Industry: Government / Public Sector Travel: Required and Fully Covered (within Connecticut) Overview TEKsystems is seeking a Network Administrator to support a public sector client's Network Engineering team. This is a field-based role that involves regular travel to 14 locations across Connecticut. All travel expenses-including mileage and related costs-are fully covered. We're looking for someone who combines technical expertise with strong communication skills, and who can confidently represent the team in customer-facing environments. Key Responsibilities * Configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls across multiple sites. * Support network segmentation and infrastructure modernization projects. * Maintain IP addressing schemes (approx. 50 subnets) and ensure accurate documentation. * Troubleshoot complex Tier III network issues and implement long-term solutions. * Monitor network performance using tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark; recommend improvements. * Ensure compliance with security standards, including PCI-DSS (preferred). * Conduct on-site assessments, organize network closets, and manage structured cabling. * Assist with disaster recovery planning and testing. * Mentor junior engineers and lead technical initiatives. * Present technical updates clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership. Required Qualifications * CCNA certification (or equivalent hands-on experience). * Strong knowledge of Cisco IOS, routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), and Layer 2/3 switching. * Experience with network security protocols and firewall configuration. * Excellent communication and presentation skills-must be comfortable engaging with customers and leadership. * Ability to simplify technical information for non-technical audiences. * Valid driver's license and reliable transportation-frequent travel is required and reimbursed. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with PCI compliance and POS systems. * Familiarity with tools such as SolarWinds, Wireshark, Cisco Works, and Websense. * Knowledge of enterprise services: DNS, DHCP, VPN, NAC, TACACS+, IPS/IDS. * Experience with Avaya VoIP systems and A5 firewalls. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
