DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will oversee the safety and security of individuals and property at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home. Your responsibilities will include patrolling the premises both by vehicle and on foot, inspecting buildings, grounds, parking, and storage areas to deter theft, trespassing, and violations of fire and safety regulations. You will ensure that all doors are locked in offices, storage, laundry, maintenance, and garage areas, manage lighting as needed, and secure all facilities after hours. Additionally, you will direct traffic, enforce facility rules regarding motor vehicles, and assist visitors, residents, and staff by providing information and directions. Preventing unauthorized access to the grounds and buildings will be a priority, as will conducting searches of vehicles and personal belongings when necessary. You will also collaborate with nursing staff to locate missing residents and work alongside law enforcement during investigations. In emergency situations, your assistance will be crucial for residents.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Special Requirements:
- You must to be in possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Previous experience in the security field
- Previous experience in a nursing-type facility searching for missing residents or assisting residents during an emergency
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
