Job Description
ECU's Department of Student Affairs Marketing & Communications is currently seeking a Self-Help Student Affairs Videographer Intern. This role is expected to work from August 18, 2025 - December 19, 2025, and January 12, 2026 - May 8, 2026.

Job Purpose
The Videographer Intern is responsible for coordinating and executing video stories for Student Affairs, while assisting in coverage of campus events. This role will be instrumental in increasing our Divisional presence online and gaining visibility for our brand among students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the Greenville community.
Responsibilities

  • Produce, write, shoot, and edit video stories for Student Affairs.
  • Assist in the coverage of campus events for Student Affairs to be used in future projects.
  • Produce the Pirate 411 weekly video by assisting the Student Affairs Communications videographer and social media intern by creating a weekly script and recording.
  • Work with Student Affairs departments to develop their projects in pre-production.
  • Collaborate with our team to create engaging content for the ECU InnerPirate social media accounts.
  • Help maintain the video, audio, and lighting equipment for the department.
  • Pitch ideas to the Student Affairs Communications staff for potential projects or ways to better engage our audience.
  • Eagerness to learn new video production skills is essential.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Student Affairs Communications staff.


Requirements for Candidacy
We seek candidates who are students in the College of Communication, College of Business or School of Art and Design who have a concentration in Film and Video Production or related field who meet the following:
Required Qualifications:

  • Enrollment as a full-time student at East Carolina University.
  • Continued enrollment of a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to support the production skill set.
  • Must be well-organized, creative, and able to work well with others in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Strong knowledge of producing, videography, and/or editing; proficient with Macs, HD video cameras, full-frame mirrorless digital cameras, audio equipment, lighting equipment, non-linear editing, and social media.
  • Pro-active attitude with excellent attention to detail and a high motivation to learn.
  • Flexible schedule to work weekday nights and occasional weekends, totaling 12-15 hours per week during the academic semesters.
  • Must have access to your own personal laptop and smartphone for video editing.
  • Maintains timely and professional correspondence through email and messaging platforms.

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)

  • Past participation or leadership experience in Student Organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Cloud Apps and Services.
  • Experience in Photoshop and After Effects.
  • Able to load/upload videos to YouTube, Vimeo, and/or other platforms for distribution.
