POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide intensive customer service support by handling a large volume of incoming telephone calls from patients, their families, insurance companies and other third party payors, doctor's offices, attorney's and our collection agencies as well as from our internal customers on patient accounts. To evaluate the patient's ability to pay and thoroughly investigate, follow-through, and document all issues and concerns on the accounts discussed and actions taken. To appropriately adjust account balances when necessary, initiate installment contract to settle balances, and solicit charity care applications. to process assigned correspondence and maintain documentation of same. EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE: Prior health insurance benefits experience preferred SPECIAL SKILLS: Computer literacy. Effective communication skills. Ability to operate general office equipment and computer terminals. Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods and meet deadlines. Working knowledge of hospital business office billing procedures preferred. Ability to work well under pressure to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Abilities to set priorities and effectively solve problems., to deal with the general public in a fast paced environment, and to remain composed and professional when stressed.
