Position Overview


Primary Purpose of Position
The developing North Carolina A&T PA Program is seeking a Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator will support the development and coordination of supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs) necessary to ensure students receive the clinical experiences required to meet program outcomes and accreditation standards.

The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for supporting the operations of the clinical year, including managing schedules, coordinating rotations and clinical skill instruction within the clinical phase of the program, and assisting with the overall administrative tasks related to student clerkships. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and external partners.

This position reports to the Program Director and is expected to execute at a high level with a particular focus on managing details. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a quickly growing department, and this position will play a key role in facilitating growth and development.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit

The John R. and Kathy R. Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences ( HCHHS) comprises six departments and the School of Nursing. The HCHHS offers the following undergraduate degree programs, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Services Management, Kinesiology, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology. At the graduate level, HCHHS offers four graduate degree programs including the master's in physician assistant studies ( MSPA), Master of Social Work ( MSW), Master of Science in Health Psychology and Ph.D. in Social Work. Three additional doctoral programs are being developed; Doctor of Nurse Practice ( DNP), PhD in Applied Psychology, and PhD in Sociology. The HCHHS is also home to the Center of Excellence in Integrative Health Disparities and Equity Research ( CIHDER), a hub for multidisciplinary research and community engagement efforts to alleviate health inequities. The HCHHS capitalizes on the synergistic relationships between these departments to develop advanced academic programming, enhance the mentoring of trainees, and conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research and scholastic activity.
The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a quickly growing department, and this position will play a role in preparing for accreditation and admissions and facilitating growth and development. The North Carolina A&T Physician Assistant program will help to increase accessibility to medical services for the state's growing population while providing affordable healthcare. The program's faculty will successfully prepare students to become competent Physician Assistants, contributing quality care to the workforce through the delivery of foundational knowledge and essential clinical skills. The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is a supportive community of committed faculty and practitioners whose goals are to introduce students to the ideas and concepts relevant to the discipline of medicine and encourage interdisciplinary learning and team-based care.
Work Hours 8:00-5:00

Key Responsibilities and Related Competencies


Required Competency Knowledge - Program and Organization
Duties

  • Coordinate and manage schedules for PA students during their clerkship rotations, including required and elective rotations, and ensuring compliance with program requirements.
  • Manage the logistics of clerkship rotations, including confirming rotation placements, and providing necessary resources to students.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks related to the clerkship program, such as maintaining records, preparing paperwork, and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, rotation schedules, and other relevant information.
  • Maintain and disseminate the clinical year materials and calendar.
  • Coordinate assessment and evaluation processes and ensure feedback and action plans
  • Supported orientation of students and assisted in maintaining policies and procedures related to the clinical year.
  • Summarize data from multiple sources and prepare management reports and presentations.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts, develop and maintain external community and university liaisons, and represent the department and university at meetings and events.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Serve as a point of contact for students, faculty, and external partners, providing timely and accurate information regarding clerkship rotations.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Education to address and resolve any issues or concerns that arise during clerkship rotations,

Duties

  • Participate in the development of the mission and goals of the program.
  • Participate in ARC-PA accreditation activities.
  • Attend and participate in the annual program retreat.
  • Attend and participate in all events, including Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation, and alumni events.
  • Engage in staff development. Participate in the program's annual survey.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the following applications: Office (excel, word, PowerPoint), Redcap, Box, ExamSoft, Exxat (Clinical team), and Jabber.
