DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in various skilled trades tasks, including planning, estimating, and procuring materials for the construction and finishing of buildings, drainage systems, and accessory structures using materials such as lumber, piping, concrete, and structural steel. Your responsibilities will involve creating rough plans, estimating material quantities, and selecting appropriate tools and equipment for each project. You will measure, cut, and assemble materials for framing and finish carpentry, as well as place reinforcing materials and manage concrete pouring and finishing. Additionally, you will oversee or execute tasks such as measuring, cutting, and nailing lumber for diverse construction projects, constructing railings, stairs, partitions, ramps, and shelves. You may also assist with winter maintenance as required. Your work will include various manual labor tasks utilizing both motorized and non-motorized hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, hammers, and saws. During the summer months, you will join a bridge construction crew, engaging in various tasks essential to building bridges. Your responsibilities will encompass tying rebar, pouring concrete, constructing forms, and applying waterproofing, among other related duties. It is essential to select and use tools correctly to reduce wear and breakage, and to report any missing or damaged equipment promptly.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
