THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Platforms Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day social media presence for Governor Shapiro across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok. Work involves video concepting, writing and editing posts, as well as translating social media trends to the Governor's voice. You will have the opportunity to pitch ideas and concepts to the Office of Digital Strategy and identify messaging opportunities that help inform, engage, and inspire stakeholders and audiences. This position is also responsible for evaluating emerging platforms to actively grow our online presence. While no two days are the same, the Platforms Manager will also:

  • Work with the Commonwealth Media Services to ensure our photography and video teams are in line with the Governor's message and collaborate with them to deliver high-quality content
  • Own Governor Shapiro's voice online, translating it between audiences that vary between Pennsylvanians, legislators, stakeholders, and national audiences
  • Assist in all rapid response efforts, preparing for anticipated news, and running our social media response
  • Collaborate with the wider Content Team, Digital Partnerships Team, and Digital Services Team to inspire ideas, brainstorm concepts, and ensure the Governor's voice is represented across all digital platforms
  • Staff the Governor across the Commonwealth to collect and create content from all corners of Pennsylvania

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Given the always-on nature of digital communications, work outside 9-5 is expected as needed.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 1 day per week. You will be required to report in-office 4 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Note: Travel is required in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience managing social programs/platforms, graphic design, and video editing and comprehensive knowledge of the digital ecosystem, platform algorithms, and industry trends; and a bachelor's degree in Digital Communication, Digital Media, or related fields like Journalism and Mass Communication, Advertising and/or Public Relations; or
  • Any equivalent experience and training.

  • You must have the ability to work well in a fast-paced and highly collaborative team environment.
  • You must be enthusiastic and self-motivated with a desire to learn new tools and technologies.
  • You must be comfortable advocating for resources amidst competing demands.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
