Position Overview

Zelis seeks an agile evangelist who wants to join a healthcare company and become part of an exciting Information Technology team. This role will be responsible for governing agile project management disciplines. The Director, Agile PMO will lead a talented team of release train engineers, scrum masters, project managers and project coordinators supporting a global software engineering delivery team with end-to-end accountability and responsibility for governing, maintaining, and transforming the process library contributing to business results.

The Director, Agile PMO will operate both tactically and strategically to ensure that best in class software development practices and procedures are used to meet our software delivery goals by:

(1) inspire the supporting teams to be productive and motivated while ensuring everyone is working against shared goals

(2) building partnerships with Engineering Leads, Product Leads and Operation Leads to continuously improve our processes supporting software delivery while promoting efficiencies along the transformation journey

(3) be a steward of Agile methodologies and help train the company around those objectives

(4) be accountable for a portfolio of initiatives led by a team of project/program managers/coordinators and scrum leaders.

This role will work cross-functionally across Zelis and partner with teams within the business unit Operations team, Product team, as well as Zelis Engineering and Innovation Team to support and/or maintain: Technology Roadmaps, Capacity and Demand forecasting, Release Calendars/Schedules, Annual Operating Plans and Long Range Planning exercises.

The successful candidate will have deep expertise in delivering software solutions in a healthcare or financial services setting. The complexity of this position requires a leadership approach that thrives with growth-mindset, engaging interactions, imaginative thinking, and collaborative across teams with diverse perspectives. He/She will have a sophisticated ability working with other leaders to align, level set and exceed in delivering against the Vital Few Objectives and Most Important corporate priorities.

What You Will Do:

  • Drive strategic thought leadership based on industry best practices, providing executive and leaders of the business unit alignment with Agile and Project Management practices, concepts and strategies

  • Lead and mentor a team of Scrum Masters and Project Managers supporting a business unit with many platforms and solutions road maps

  • Develop and implement Best-In-Class agile software development practices/methodologies that scale in support of backlog grooming, design, development, quality assurance, user acceptance, and release

  • Promotes adoption and scalability of Agile and general project standards, tools, processes, and procedures across the teams.

  • Partners with stakeholders to implement Agile Coaching and process training to promote a culture of continuous improvement

  • Supports the Engineering Leadership team with Capacity and Demand staffing and roadmap exercises.

  • Coach, mentor and partners with teams responsible for facilitation of SDLC ceremonies that includes representatives of Business Operations, Product, Enterprise teams

  • Sponsor the Agile Center of Excellence, a community of representatives from Business, Product, Engineering and Enterprise teams to challenge the status quo and push for innovative ways to improve process adoption supporting our SDLC transformation goals.

  • Facilitates Engineering and Finance teams with monthly, quarterly, and annual budget exercises supporting Finance team's objectives and strategic planning initiatives.

  • Acts as a trusted advisor supporting SDLC objectives, building and maintaining relationships with Technology leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs; raising awareness to cost-effective delivery of software solutions that meet the needs of the organization while keeping agility to changing business priorities.

  • Be open-minded to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; able to manage compressed timelines, while providing proactive service and service to stakeholders involved

  • Collaborates and proactively communicates with Business Operations, Product, and cross-functional technology partners information around Product Delivery roadmaps/schedules that serve as commitments to all internal and external stakeholders. The activity also includes supporting documentation of Program Increments, Release Candidates, Sprint Goals, Project critical paths of larger programs.

  • Responsible for maintaining risk and opportunities ledger and facilitating resolution of impediments to successful outcomes.

  • Maintains a dashboard of Key Performance Indicators tracking the efficacy of software/product delivery and the reliability of the agile practices contributing to the software development teams. Promote these KPIs through monthly reporting with key stakeholders.

  • Researches and advocates innovative approaches that drive dramatic increases in business value, improving velocity while maintain quality acceptance criteria.

  • Provides proactive leadership, coaching, clarity of direction and career growth development to the team. Additionally, takes ownership and accountability for employee survey results and strives to develop an environment that people feel engaged and proud to be a part of.

  • Partners with People & Culture and Technology leadership team to develop people priorities and plans, that align with technology strategies. Continually looks for innovative and meaningful solutions to the recruitment, development and retention of the workforce.

  • Leverages influencing and negotiation skills across Technology and the enterprise to achieve business goals, cost-effective and innovative shared solutions.

What You Bring to Zelis:

  • 10+ years experience supporting application development roadmaps in healthcare or payments environment; including 4+ years of recent experience in Agile transformation.

  • 5+ years of a proven track record of leading technology teams and programs with a budget dollar value of over $10M/Year

  • Servant leader with demonstrated hands-on working knowledge of Agile methodologies, including but not limited to Scrum and Kanban.

  • Experience in training, mentoring, and coaching agile mindset practices

  • Working knowledge supporting production support teams responsible for surveillance, monitoring and remediation of production reliability events considered a plus.

  • Working knowledge of CI/CD and DevOps a plus

EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study

  • Master of Business Administration, or related field of study preferred.
