Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Materials Test Technician to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team in one of the various laboratories across Element. The technician positions must be proficient in a number of core business skills including but not limited to compliance to established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Salary: $20- $25/hr DOE



Responsibilities

    Perform metallurgical sectioning, mounting, polishing, and routine evaluations in an aerospace metallics lab
  • Perform microscopic evaluations including grain size, coating thickness, machining artefacts, hardness
  • Possess the ability to work alone periodically throughout the work day with supervision
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions in an aerospace manufacturing environment
  • Experience with tensile, hardness, or other mechanical testing is a plus
  • Overtime is periodically required. Weekend coverage is required ~4 weekends per year.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Must be US Citizen. Position requires security clearance plus clearance of 7 year background check and 10 panel drug screen.
  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent. 4 year degree in a science field is preferred.
  • Functional in Microsoft office products (TEAMS, Word, Excel, Windows 10 and newer operating systems)
  • Equipment experience: abrasive saws, precision saws, metallographic mounting presses and polishers. Microscope, optical and digital. Scanning electron microscope is a plus.
  • Laboratory experience: safety practices; handling chemicals, beakers, bottles; hot surfaces; small work areas with multiple workers in the same space.
  • Aerospace manufacturing or laboratory experience. NADCAP/ISO 17025 is a plus.
