Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Production Manager, the Electronic Sub Assembler performs manual work pertaining to the manufacture of our company products. This employee is responsible for the sub assembly of our product by soldering components onto printed circuit boards.

Requirements

Job Functions:

Essential:

Strong leadership skills and experience preferred

Soldering experience not required - WILL TRAIN

* Solders components onto printed circuit boards via hand or machine method.

* Reads manufacturing documentation such as blueprints, process sheets and assembly and schematic drawings,

* Receives verbal instructions regarding work assignment, and follows instructions.

* Examines parts for defects such as cuts, pinholes, or chips.

* Replaces defective components.

* Enters information on production records, logs or other report forms.

* Repairs defective units rejected by inspection or test personnel.

* Performs assembly at the sub-assembly level of various products.

* Cuts wires and builds wire harnesses.

* Operates mechanical pick-n-place machine, solder paste machine, automated pick-n-place machine, board washer, and oven.

* Performs self-inspection visually and with microscope.

* Cuts printed circuit boards and grinds edges.

Marginal:

* Applies conformal coating to printed circuit board assemblies as required

* Grinds plastic parts to properly fit product.

* Performs assembly at the final-assembly level of some products.

* Uses hand tools to perform final assembly of products.

* Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.

Job Qualifications:

Leadership Experience

Experience: At least 1 year experience in electronic assembly involving soldering through hole and surface mount parts, or related field is required. Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.

Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.

Skills: Strong leadership skills and experience preferred. Skills expected include demonstrated soldering skills, including through hole and surface mount. Ability to read engineering blueprints and manufacturing documentation. Excellent knowledge of electronic assembly. Ability to perform self-inspection of work visually and using microscope. Working knowledge of microscopes, oscilloscopes, and miscellaneous test equipment. No computer skills necessary, but preferred.

Certificates and Licenses: Soldering certification in both surface mount and through hole preferred.

Problem Solving: No problem solving is required in this position.

Decision Making: Limited decision making is required in this position. Decisions are made when completing self-inspection of the quality of the soldering that occurred.

Financial Accountability: Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental equipment. Employee is not involved in the authorization of departmental expenditures.

Personal Relations: Employee has frequent contact with other employees and departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, employee is exposed to loud noise occasionally when in grinding room. Employee could be exposed to fumes when coating PCB boards.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to assemble our products. The employee can be required to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds approximately 5% of the time. Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.The employee must be able to touch/feel and be able to work with very small parts. Ability to read and interpret manufacturing documentation and correspondence and the ability to write simple correspondence is required.The ability to read and interpret engineering documentation is required. This employee must also be able to effectively discuss information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees.
