The Director of Professional and Career Development is responsible for planning and executing a broad range of comprehensive services and programs for the College's undergraduate, graduate and alumni populations. The Director works closely with staff from academic affairs and other areas of the College to better prepare current students about to enter the employment marketplace; and with alumni relations staff in order to utilize the resources and connections provided by previous graduates from Thomas. In addition, the Director provides assistance to those alumni looking to pursue employment and/or career changes.

The Director collaborates with a broad constituent base that includes current students, alumni, faculty & staff, plans and coordinates engagement events both on campus and off; manages student workers and interns as needed; creates and evaluates annual plans, goals, and results within his/her respective area; and serves as a key ambassador and liaison for the College. This individual is the key individual that oversees the delivery of the College's Guaranteed Job Placement Program.

The chosen candidate must have excellent interpersonal, writing, and communication skills; ability to participate in a team environment; strong problem-solving skills. Must be a self-starter, deadline driven, and able to adapt and manage multiple and changing priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality a must.

Knowledge of current trends and issues around career development needs - of college students in particular - and the employment marketplace in general is essential. Some travel; evening and weekend hours required. Valid driver's license and successful driver's license background check required.

Five years with increasing responsibility in career advising, counseling services or human resources required; previous supervisory experience required. Prior experience working with college aged students desirable. Four-year college degree in business, career development, counseling or related field required; Master's degree preferred. Efficiency with Microsoft Office.
