Position Summary:

The Information Security Engineer provides technical expertise in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of security systems in support of security policies. The incumbent is responsible for working with systems and network engineers to identify risk and address IT security issues. The Information Security Engineer supports and maintains a broad suite of information security infrastructure tools, accountable for security infrastructure component availability and integrity, monitoring compliance with IT security policy.

Primary Responsibilities & Duties

  • Identify, evaluate and implement technical security controls to continuously improve the organization's security posture.
  • Engineer, implement and monitor security measures for the protection of computer systems, networks and information.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in the knowledge of latest cyber security industry trends, technology tools and practices
  • Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs to meet policy standards.
  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices.
  • Develop and maintain standards, procedures and documentation for all systems and infrastructure.
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks.
  • Assist in the planning and development of new security technology to improve performance and productivity, reduce IT costs, improve profitability, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Assist in the identification and remediation of vulnerabilities.
  • Develops and implements information security standards and procedures for systems, applications, and third-party systems and vendors
  • Provide Tier 3 support and escalation and act as a subject matter expert for security-related incidents and problems.
  • Support and execute incident, problem and change management processes according to established policies and procedures.
  • Solve complex problem situations and participate in the identification of opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures, or tools.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as necessary for the continued growth and advancement of Everwise.

Specific Skills

  • Proven work experience as an information security engineer.
  • Experience with log aggregation and SIEM tools.
  • Experience with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages and text manipulation tools.
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems.
  • Hands on experience ins security systems, including firewalls, intrusion detections systems, anti-virus software, vulnerability scan tools, authentication systems, log management, content filtering, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, techniques, and protocols.
  • Problem solving skill and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Data entry skills, mathematical and logical aptitude and general interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are absolutely necessary.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Works with little supervision with respect to scheduling and assignments of tasks with results and progress occasionally reviewed.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and coordinate project plans and projects. Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and be a team leader and facilitate brainstorming sessions.
  • Must be available for non-business hours support and after-hours work, including on-call rotation when necessary.

Minimum Requirement

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology-related field preferred.
  • 4+ years' experience in information security.
  • 2+ years' experience with one or more of the following: IDS/IPS, SIEM, DLP, PCI-DSS, vulnerability and patch management.
  • Industry certification in at least one of the following: CISSP, GIAC GCIA, GCIH, CEH, Offensive Security.
  • In-depth knowledge of information security issues and best practices in a Windows environment.
