Position Summary

Geost seeks an enthusiastic and highly capable IT Systems Administrator 3 to support our organization's IT infrastructure and help drive operational efficiency and growth. As a member of the IT team, this position focuses on all aspects of IT operations to include network cabling, license management, server/workstation application installation and troubleshooting, and end-user support by means of the IT ServiceDesk.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.
  • Monitor and resolve help desk tickets for end user support.
  • Work with internal and external entities to ensure computer system platforms provide sufficient computing resources to deliver the desired level of business performance.
  • Evaluate network hardware and software requirements/capabilities and make recommendations to support improvement and procurement activities.
  • Monitor systems in order to optimize performance and initiate recovery actions after system failures.
  • Assist with the development of budgetary requirements for equipment replacement.
  • Coordinate with security personnel to deploy, assess, and maintain high security assets.
  • Provide support to and train users in local area network administration and use.
  • Monitor and maintain network stability, collect and analyze network and memory utilization, and install and test software upgrades.
  • Manage computer operation scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions.
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunication services.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with service providers.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
  • Train users in the operations of office productivity applications.
  • Effectively manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to support on-site work, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Network Security, or related field or equivalent experience / combined education.
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance, current SSBI is preferred.
  • Minimum of four years experience (or graduate degree plus minimum of two years of experience). In lieu of degree, minimum of eight years of applicable experience.
  • Experience with Linux Administration.
  • Experience with Active Directory (AD) Directory Services (DS).
  • DoD 8570 compliant IT security certificate (IAT Level 2; CompTIA Security+, CCNA-Security, etc.) within six months of hire.
  • Recent experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019/2022 and Windows 10/11
  • Recent experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux 7/8/9 (or similar).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current TS/SCI with active SSBI and counter-intelligence polygraph.
  • Experience with cloud-based hosting services (AWS/Azure).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vCenter/ESXi/Linux KVM).
  • Experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XE routing/switching configurations and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Cisco Firepower Threat Defense firewalls.
  • Experience with Aruba wireless access points.
  • Experience with SQL databases (MS SQL, MySQL, Postgres, etc.).
  • Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
