Job Overview:

This pivotal role is part of Coursera's Growth Marketing team, which is responsible for Acquisition, Retention, and Merchandising. As the clear business owner for engagement and retention metrics, you will be tasked with developing and executing a comprehensive, data-driven consumer lifecycle strategy aimed at driving rapid growth. You will closely collaborate with Product and Content teams to design targeted, measurable initiatives that enhance learner engagement, drive retention, and optimize our overall marketing mix. Your efforts will ensure that every digital touchpoint contributes to an exceptional, consistent, and personalized learner experience that delivers on our ambitious growth objectives.

Responsibilities:



  • Develop and execute a comprehensive consumer lifecycle strategy to enhance learner engagement and retention, with measurable improvements in key performance metrics throughout the journey.
  • Serve as the primary business owner for retention and engagement metrics, continuously tracking and refining strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Oversee Coursera-owned outbound channels (mobile, email, CRM) and on-site channels to ensure a seamless, branded, and personalized experience at every interaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create targeted, segment-specific campaigns and personalized communications that drive engagement and long-term value.
  • Implement performance measurement frameworks and dashboards to track key lifecycle and retention metrics, using insights for ongoing campaign optimization.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of lifecycle marketers, foster a culture of experimentation, and manage budgets efficiently to maximize ROI on lifecycle marketing programs.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with a strong focus on consumer lifecycle management, retention strategy, and digital channel optimization.
  • Proven track record in driving learner/customer retention and engagement through multi-channel marketing campaigns, with accountability for key metrics.
  • Expertise in leveraging data analytics, CRM systems, email marketing, and marketing automation tools to develop personalized and impactful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data insights into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaboration skills, with experience managing high-performing teams in fast-paced, global organizations.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree preferred. Experience in edtech or technology industries is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills; comfortable leveraging data to drive decisions and turning marketing campaign results into actionable learnings.


  • Initiative to drive projects forward, collaborate across multiple teams, and proactively ask questions to get information and resources.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering growth through one or more key marketing channels (eg. Email, Onsite, Push Notification.).


  • Passion for online education and understanding of the higher education landscape.


  • Strong written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.

$148,800 - 186,000 USD

The range(s) listed above is the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Salary is just one component of Coursera's total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for a bonus program and equity in the form of RSU's.

A number of factors are taken into account when determining pay, which includes: job level, location, training/education, business need, skill set and internal equity.

  • Zone 1- San Francisco Metro, New York City Metro or Seattle Metro
  • Zone 2 - CA (outside of SF Bay Area), CO, CT, DC, GA, IL, MA, MD, NY/NJ (other than NYC), OR, RI, TX, VA, WA (other than Seattle)
