JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY:

Lead/Perform rigging operations working within repair teams, under the Supervision of a multi-disciplined Trade Supervisor. Involves heavy lifting, frequent stooping or bending and possible working assignments in overhead structures, confined spaces or beneath machinery. Strict adherence to safety, quality standards, good housekeeping habits, high level of critical thinking/reading comprehension, and frequent travel/overtime are required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Requires little supervision/oversight and has experience in the trade qualifications and can perform most tasks required as a Rigger.
  2. Able to understand and perform the inspection, set up, maintenance and operation of various rigging equipment and hand tools used in the trade
  3. Has the ability to select the correct rigging equipment to execute safe rigging operations, calculate weight, size safety and interference.
  4. Has the ability to align, level, lift, maneuver and place loads using multipoint lifting operations in confined areas.
  5. Coordinates lifts with on-site Supervisor and Ships Force and may direct other trade personnel to assist rigging operations.
  6. Installs fixtures, jigs, supports and targets to ensure proper alignment during rigging operations.
  7. Performs as a team member, assisting other trades during installation, modification or repair operations.
  8. Performs other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduation from a standard apprenticeship/trade/vocational school.
  2. High school diploma or GED required and 4 or more years of related experience or equivalent of training and experience.
  3. Ability to gain access to military installations.
  4. Eligibility to work in the US.
  5. Must pass a drug test and background check.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  1. Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and seek help with weights over 50 pounds.
  2. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds.



ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

This position works on the jobsite. There is exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals/fumes and airborne particles, smoke, extreme temperatures moving mechanical parts: high, precarious places.

During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Hard hat
