Job Family Description

Occupational Health and Safety personnel ensure workplace environments comply with health and safety regulations and standards to prevent accidents, injuries, and health hazards. They conduct risk assessments, regular inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions. They develop, implement, and train employees on health and safety processes, procedures, and protocols. They ensure organizational compliance with health and safety requirements from regulatory agencies. They review and provide input for hazards and controls in job safety analyses. They investigate incidents, analyze causes, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public.

Discipline Description

Safety personnel are responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public. They conduct studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards, and regulations. They investigate accidents and promote safety-conscious work performance and environments, provide safety performance measures, and perform root cause analyses. They develop and maintain the company's safety procedures and practices. Industrial Safety personnel also provide injury case management and Workers' Compensation case management. They direct and coordinate appropriate, timely and cost-effective delivery of health care related to disability, urgent and emergency care, work limitations, transitional return to work plans, accommodations and part-time work for workers' compensation and nonworkers' compensation illness and injury. They perform ongoing evaluation and treatment plans, determine essential job functions, and identify and implement necessary limitations, accommodations, and part-time work for high frequency/high-risk cases to reduce the length of disability.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Have extensive knowledge and understating of 29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926 and 10 CFR 851 and apply it
Responsible for identifying and mitigating hazardous conditions that affect workers, property, the environment, and the general public
Observes facility or project operations ensuring that all employee and subcontractors are performing work in compliance with governing work documents
Investigates, prepares, and forwards reports on workplace illnesses and injuries
Anticipates, evaluates and controls occupational hazards in the workplace through job scope reviews, walk downs, and general observations
Utilizes comprehensive experience to develop, implement and maintain safety and health programs, systems and procedures within a specialized field
Prepares and reviews written programs, job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments and other health and safety program elements
Serves as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illness per company requirements
Instill our safety culture in others with leading by example for employees and subcontractors.
Build relationships within the organization, craft, subcontractors and customer with strong field presence.

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in relevant field plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR Doctoral degree in relevant field
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
