Purpose of Position
The Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach reports directly to the Head Men's Volleyball Coach and isresponsible for assisting in the organization and administration of the men's volleyball program in accordance with the rules and regulations of the University, Horizon League and NCAA.

The Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach must have a commitment to developing a competitive NCAA Division I volleyball program, while maintaining an emphasis on the academic success of the student-athlete. The Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach will be expected to assist in administering
the program in a manner that promotes the health, safety and welfare of the student-athlete.
Compliance with NCAA rules is of the utmost importance at Northern Kentucky University. As a member of the athletics department staff, it is expected that the Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach will have a full understanding of the NCAA rules that pertain to the position. It is also expected that the Assistant Men's Volleyball Coach will comply with all NCAA rules and if he/she becomes aware, or have reasonable cause to believe, that a violation of a rule has occurred he/she will immediately report it to the Director of Athletics or his/her designee.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform recruiting activities as assigned by the Head Coach, to meet the objectives of the university and team, including the evaluation, contact and ongoing communication with prospective student-athletes and coaches. Coordinate and organize recruiting schedules for men's volleyball personnel.
  • Utilize social media in promotion of the team and in the recruitment of potential student-athletes
  • Assist in promoting and performing fundraising activities for the program.
  • Performs planning, organization, and execution for coaching duties as described and assigned by the Head Coach for all meetings, practice sessions, and competitions.
  • Assist with the arrangement and supervision of transportation, lodging, and meals for team travel.
  • Evaluation of opponents and the development of strategies, suggestions and personnel adjustments for student-athlete instruction in accordance with position assignment(s) as prescribed by the Head Coach. Assist in video breakdown and scouting for home and away contests.
  • Assist in the development of team rules and policies.
  • Responsible for supervision, instruction, and direction of student-athletes as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Support, abide, and enforce all academic guidelines and policies of the university, athletics department, and volleyball program to ensure academic progress of the student-athlete as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Support and work cooperatively with Sports Medicine/Athletic Training, Strength and Conditioning, Equipment, Student Development, Life Skills, NCAA Compliance, Media Relations etc. areas in accordance with department policies and procedures.


Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree

Minimum two years of related coaching experience. Prior collegiate volleyball participation and/or coaching experience is required; Division I coaching experience preferred.

Computer skills, excellent organization and communications skills, good interpersonal and leadership skills, knowledge of compliance rules, CPR/First aid certification preferred (can obtain within 30 days of hire).

Motivated, display integrity and professionalism. Loyal and uses fairness and equitable in the treatment of others. Displays public relations skills and promotes Northern Kentucky University Men's Volleyball Program.

Valid Driver's license required.
