The EMS Program Manager coordinates all aspects of the Paramedic/EMS Education Programs: planning, implementation, and evaluation. Maintains all components of the Paramedic Program to meet the CoAEMSP/CAAHEP accreditation requirements. Provides coordination and instruction in other EMS education programs as needed. Manages multiple campuses in some areas. Responsibilities: Leadership & Supervision
- Oversees faculty, adjunct instructors, and staff across classroom, lab, clinical, and field settings
- Conducts regular staff meetings and mentors team members
- Evaluates guest lecturers and provides timely feedback
- Counsels students and documents interactions
Program Administration
- Provides overall administration, organization, and supervision of the Program
- Develops course schedules and ensures alignment with CoAEMSP/CAAHEP accreditation standards
- Leads long-range planning, continuous quality improvement, and program development
- Involves the Medical Director in course operations and evaluations
- Prepares and submits annual reports and re-accreditation self-studies
Instruction & Coordination
- Coordinates and teaches assigned courses, skill labs, and evaluations
- Oversees clinical and field internship site coordination and supervision
- Maintains relationships with EMS agencies and evaluates site effectiveness
- Conducts student interviews, evaluations, and final exams with the Medical Director
- Initiates graduate and employer surveys 4-6 months post-graduation
- Maintains instructor status for standardized courses as agreed
Curriculum & Evaluation
- Reviews and updates course materials and syllabi to meet national EMS education standards
- Ensures lesson plans and instructional materials reflect current evidence-based practices
- Manages student evaluation tools across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains
- Reviews student and course evaluations, initiates action plans, and manages test item development
Planning & Communication
- Assists with course marketing and promotes program visibility
- Schedules and leads Program Advisory Committee meetings (Spring and Fall)
- Publishes program outcomes as required
- Communicates effectively with the GMR Learning team, Medical Director, staff, and students
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion in all communications
Fiscal & Resource Management
- Participates in budgeting and monitors program costs
- Ensures efficient use of resources and oversees equipment and supply maintenance
Qualifications: Education & Industry Experience
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of progressive field/clinical experience as a Paramedic or Emergency Nurse
- Supervisory experience required
- EMS education program coordination required
- Documented teaching experience
- Experience with formal performance improvement processes preferred
- Licensure/Certification:
- Certified/Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse in the state of employment
- Current state certification/licensure required
- NREMT certification preferred
- Instructor Certifications (required within one year of hire and must remain current):
- AHA ACLS Instructor
- PALS, PEPP, or EPC Instructor
- PHTLS or ITLS Instructor
- Completion of an approved instructor course (per local authority requirements)
