Job Summary

The Physician Recruitment & Retention Director leads a strategic and service-oriented program focused on the recruitment, onboarding, retention, and development of physicians across UC Davis Health through the UC Davis Medical Group. This role oversees full lifecycle recruitment for the School of Medicine, Community Physician Group (CPG), and affiliate network while driving long-term strategies to strengthen physician engagement, satisfaction, and retention.

Reporting through the UC Davis Medical Group, the position plays a key leadership function in advancing clinical growth, access to care, and provider alignment. The manager collaborates closely with senior leadership, administrative partners, and external organizations to build a robust pipeline of physicians and ensure a thriving, inclusive provider community rooted in opportunity, belonging, and excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field and/or equivalent training and experience.
  • Extensive experience in healthcare or physician recruitment, including supervisory and program development responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams in a large, matrixed health system.
  • In-depth knowledge of physician workforce needs, provider engagement, and strategic outreach.
  • Strong relationship management, communication, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent talent acquisition/recruitment certification.
  • Master's degree in Health Administration (MHA), Business (MBA), or related discipline.
  • Experience with community integration and inclusive hiring training.
  • Previous work within an academic medical center or multispecialty health network.

Its administrative teams support centralized recruitment, retention, operations, and strategic growth. Work Environment
