Onsite - Niagara Falls, NY Moog Space and Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by high levels of U.S. Department of Defense spending and the thirst for human exploration.The Niagara Falls Site supplies rocket engines, propulsion systems, and propellant tanks for a variety of spacecraft, launch vehicle and strategic defense missions. We are looking for a Test Engineer to plan, set up and conduct Hot Fire and Vibration testing of liquid propulsion rocket engines and systems. You'll be responsible for providing directions to test technicians, both electrical and mechanical, in regard to preparing and conducting tests. In addition, you'll provide planning for labor and schedules for test cell/equipment modifications. To be considered for this position, here's what you'll need to bring with you:
  • BS degree in an Engineering discipline with 1-5 years of experience. Preferred Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience in a testing environment where critical performance data and test facility parameters are monitored closely.
    • Rocket test experience not required.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum systems.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
  • Ability to develop, update and implement test procedures and protocols.
  • Must be able to work directly with other Engineers and test technicians with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of fluid components such as valves, regulators, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation such as pressure transducers, load cells, flow meters, and temperature sensors, or equivalent.
  • Experience using data acquisition hardware such as LabVIEW, Pacific Instruments, DEWESoft, Astromed, or equivalent.
  • Experience in a vibration lab using VibrationVIEW controller software, or equivalent.
  • This position requires a full physical which includes bloodwork, Pulmonary Function testing, and fit test.
As a Test Engineer, you will:
  • Plan, set up, and execute Hot Fire test operations to assess the performance of rocket engines and propulsion systems.
  • Conduct vibration testing of rocket engines and propulsion systems.
  • Work with other engineers to define changes needed in existing test equipment and setup, procedures, manufacturing processes, and testing requirements.
  • Maintain liaison with internal and external technical representatives, program management, quality assurance, manufacturing, and test personnel.
  • Write test procedures and reports.
  • Provide directions to test technicians regarding preparing and conducting hot fire tests.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental procedures and protocols.
  • Position may require use of personal protective equipment where the possibility of mechanical or chemical processes exposures may occur.

Salary Range Transparency:

Niagara Falls, NY $75,000.00-$100,000.00 Annually

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
