About the Opportunity: Join a high-performing team at a $65M forging operation in Cleveland, OH, as a Quality Engineer specializing in chemical processing. In this hands-on technical role, you'll ensure the quality and integrity of chemical treatments used in aerospace component manufacturing by leading process validation, chemical analysis, and compliance monitoring. You'll collaborate closely with Production, Metallurgy, Engineering, and Quality teams to maintain rigorous standards and drive continuous improvement. - Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems related to chemical processing, ensuring compliance with AS9100, ISO 9100, and customer-specific requirements.
- Conduct internal audits and inspections of chemical processes, raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify quality and regulatory compliance.
- Lead root cause analysis, investigation of non-conformances, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address chemical process issues.
- Monitor chemical processing parameters and analyze quality data to identify trends, drive process improvements, and reduce defects.
- Evaluate, qualify, and collaborate with suppliers of chemical materials to ensure compliance with quality standards and maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL).
- Prepare and maintain critical quality documentation, including First Article Inspections (FAI), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions, and chemical processing records.
- Support and train production and quality teams on chemical process quality requirements, standards, and best practices.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean and Kaizen projects focused on chemical process optimization and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related engineering or science discipline.
- 3 years of experience in quality engineering or process engineering roles, preferably within aerospace manufacturing or a highly regulated industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with chemical processing or surface treatments (e.g., plating, anodizing, heat treating) within aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9100 quality management systems.
- Proven experience in root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and supplier quality management.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality documentation, including First Article Inspections (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or equivalent professional certification is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across engineering, production, and supplier teams.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies, particularly Kaizen, to drive process enhancements.
Minimum Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during production floor and quality inspections.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds, such as inspection tools, samples, or documents.
- Dexterity to operate inspection equipment, tools, and computer systems effectively.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and industrial materials.
- Sufficient vision and hearing to perform detailed inspections and communicate clearly with team members.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
