Requisition ID req33548 Working Title Sci Research Manager Position Grade 13 Position Summary The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico seeks a highly motivated team player with a commitment to implementation of research studies examining the potential use of psychedelic assisted therapies for addiction, PTSD, depression and other indication. The position includes the role of project manager for Group Psilocybin Assisted Therapy (GPAT) study. GPAT is an innovative study using a group model including peer navigators with lived experience, community engagement and expanded integration model to facilitate access. The project manager will be working closely with the therapy and research teams as well as community based resources. The position may include training to be a Study coordinator on other Psychedelic Assisted Therapy Research studies. The scientist will also participate in the development and initiation of future studies with a focus on the use of PAT for diagnoses such as addiction chronic pain and anxiety related to terminal illness. The Science Research Manager will assist with the recruitment, pre-screening and screening of potential study participants including the development of lab procedures including schedule development and support during medication sessions. The research position may include training in specific psychological assessment measures including but not limited to SCID-CT, MINI, MADRS and HAM and therapists with interest in psychedelic therapy are encouraged to apply although this is not a requirement Specific duties include with direction from program leadership, the Research Scientist may participate in: 1. Development of the research, therapy and peer navigator teams 2. On-site data collection, including from electronic medical records. 3. Screening and recruitment of research participants 4. Psychological assessment of research participants 5. Development of schedules and other times to assist overall lab management 6. Occasional overnight stays to be available to support participants during required overnight stay. 7. Data entry and management including use of clinical trial software including Zelta, Suvoda and Red Cap 8. Involvement with community- based resources for post psychedelic therapy integration 9. Coordinating with the IRB 10. Conducting literature reviews 11. Contributing to manuscripts for scholarly publication 12. Conditions of Employment Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Qualifications: The most successful candidate will have: 1. MA, MS or PhD in relevant field 2. Knowledge about Redcap, Electronic Data Capture software (e.g. Zelta), Drug management software (E.g Suvoda) and survey instruments used in evaluation of psychedelic assisted therapy. 3. Strong interpersonal skill including ability to comfortably work with people during preparation and integration from psychedelic therapy. 4. Experience working with an IRB. 5. Experience conducting recruitment/screening/assessment with research participants. 6. Excellent writing skills 7. Interest in mental health and addiction 8. People who are successful in this position can work independently, are self-motivated, very detail oriented, responsible, and have good critical thinking skills. 9. Experience or demonstrated interest in working with people experiencing addiction including pregnant and postpartum people with opioid use disorder. 10. Phlebotomy certification will be helpful for future studies but is not a requirement. 11. Background in psychology or mental health to facilitate training as a rater for psychologic assessment measures 12. Training as a clinical therapist at the master or PhD level is not required however a candidate with this training may function as a therapist or clinician rater for PAT studies 13. At least two years of the required three years of experience in a research capacity or as a therapist working with people with addiction or trauma or equivalent. 14. Demonstrated competence in use of data collection software.
