Figma is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to make design accessible to all. Born on the Web, Figma helps entire product teams brainstorm, design and build better products - from start to finish. Whether it's consolidating tools, simplifying workflows, or collaborating across teams and time zones, Figma makes the design process faster, more efficient, and fun while keeping everyone on the same page. From great products to long-lasting companies, we believe that nothing great is made alone-comemake with us!

At Figma, Engineering is a key part of our super power to build the industry-leading products that revolutionized collaborative design and production. As our business grows rapidly, we're looking for versatile and motivated Software Engineers to help us push the boundaries of product development! Whether you're building core design tools, enhancing developer workflows, launching entirely new products, or scaling user growth, you'll have a hand in shaping the future of how teams create together.

You'll work on complex technical challenges-from crafting deeply sophisticated professional tool features, to performance optimization in real-time collaborative systems, to design intuitive interfaces and launching 0->1 products. Our engineers are highly cross-functional, working closely with product, design, research, data, and marketing to deliver best-in-class experiences.

This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.

What you'll do at Figma:

  • Build, launch, and iterate on user-facing features and core product experiences across Figma's design, developer, and collaboration tools.
  • Contribute to both greenfield product development and improvements to established products, with a focus on user experience craft, architecture quality and performance.
  • Create extensible and scalable systems and abstractions to support multiple Figma products and unlock innovation across teams.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from ideation through implementation to post-launch iteration.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across product, design, research, and marketing to shape the product roadmap and strategy.
  • Participate in code reviews, pairing, design crits, and mentoring to foster a culture of learning and craftsmanship.
  • Dedication to engineering craft: you are proud of making well polished products through consistent and scalable technical patterns.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • proven experience shipping user-facing features or products as a full-stack developer.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., TypeScript, React, C++, Python, Ruby, Go, Java, Objective-C, Rust).
  • A strong product sense with a desire to deeply understand users and deliver value through clean, performant code.
  • Experience working collaboratively in fast-paced, cross-functional teams.

While not required, it's an added plus if you also have:

  • Experience as a tech lead or project lead in delivering large-scale projects or 0->1 product launches.
  • Familiarity with C++/WebAssembly in user-facing applications.
  • Experience with one or more of the following specialized areas:

    • Growth engineering
    • Developer tooling
    • Design systems
    • Prototype systems
    • Web tooling
    • Computational geometry

  • Background in iOS/Android development or Ruby-based backends.
  • A passion for mentoring peers and helping shape engineering culture.

At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. We believe in hiring smart, curious people who are excited to learn and develop their skills. If you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with the points outlined in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
