The Senior OT Systems Engineer will provide direct engineering and technical support of site operating technology (OT) networks and systems. Evaluate and develop technology, plan and implement modifications, maximize network/system security and performance, and ensure operability of various controls, digital, and execution systems, and their integrations.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Deliver technical leadership as the subject matter expert (SME) in support of:
    • OT network infrastructure, including hosts, server/system hardware, switches, thin clients, controllers, and cabling.
    • Software and applications related to systems administration, maintenance and lifecycle, virtualization, integrations, cyber security, and digital compliance.
  • Provide technical support and expertise related to crossplatform integration among differing OEM equipment, systems, and networks (e.g. PLC, DCS, MES) using common protocols (e.g. Profibus, Ethernet I/P, OPC, ODBC).
  • Partner within the site digital/automation teams in all facets - development, planning, execution, and support, by providing the teams with an elevated level of support and expertise in your areas of technical responsibility and offer additional capacity as needed.
  • Lead, manage, and/or support capital projects as the primary resource from front end design through commissioning: serve as the interface between building stakeholders and contracted support, review and approve vendor deliverables (proposals, drawings, documents, etc), manage the activities of on-site project resources; define detailed plan necessary to complete approved projects on schedule and within budget; support testing and commissioning activities; ensure the deliverable is technically and functionally correct.
  • Provide daily operational support of process controls systems (DeltaV DCS, Rockwell, Siemens) and the network and infrastructure that support them. Troubleshoot and correct issues; provide controls and cybersecurity expertise to develop and implement solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement and problem solving across disciplines and functions within the site. This should manifest in improved ways of working, procedures and documentation, technical design, cybersecurity, performance, capability, and operating model.
  • Work in a way that models respect for employee safety, EHS, quality, compliance, data integrity, and GSK standards.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • BS in engineering OR 8+ years of relevant technical experience
  • 4+ years specialized engineering experience (OT/IT/data systems/automation)
  • 4+ years of experience with the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting with either Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell PLCs, or Siemens Desigo
  • 4+ years of experience in GMP
  • 4+ years of experience in the administration, design, and troubleshooting of automation systems/networks is required.
  • 4+ years of experience working in computer system validation and data integrity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional experience in design, programming, start-up, and troubleshooting of process control systems, building automation systems, PLCs, and/or instrumentation.
  • Experience working within a virtualized environment (Microsoft Hyper-V) is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in firewall management, OT/IT integration and current industry cyber security standards is preferred.
  • Experience working across the ISA95 levels (e.g. Control, MES, Enterprise) to apply/enforce proper network design and segmentation.
