Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Optician (FGP) * Manhattan *.

In this role, the successful candidate The FGP Licensed Optician (multiple locations) will play a crucial role in providing exceptional eye care services to NYU Langone Health patients across Manhattan and Brooklyn. We are expanding our optical retail business to serve our growing patient population, and we are looking for a skilled and experienced licensed optician to be a part of this exciting growth story. This role will be responsible for assisting customers in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses, providing guidance on frame styles and lens options, and promoting exceptional patient experience in high-volume ambulatory settings.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Engage and create a personalized experience with each patient to select eyeglasses and contact lenses based on their prescriptions and personal preferences
  • Use your expertise to explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers
  • Educate patients on lens options, including materials, coatings and tints
  • Take and record accurate measurements, adjust and fit eyewear and execute details with accuracy
  • Check that all finished eyewear meets our optical standards, as well as patient requirements and requests
  • Adjust, repair and cleaneyewear to ensure optimal comfort and functionality
  • Collaborate with the Optometrists and Ophthalmologists to ensure seamless patient care
  • Maintain accurate records of customer prescriptions, orders, and payments
  • Perform daily operations including processing sales transactions, ordering lenses, processing insurance orders, business and CRM functions
  • Ensure cases and displays are properly maintained and stocked
  • Conduct inventory and cycle counts
  • Effectively execute marketing andpromotions to increase sales and brand awareness for NYU Langone Health?s optical retail stores
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends in eyewear fashion and technology
  • Ability to assist where needed at NYU Langone optical retail locations
  • Drives consistency in every patient and colleague encounter by embodying the core principles of our FGP Service Strategy CARES (Connect, Align, Respond, Ensure, and Sign-Off)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Previous experience as a Licensed Optician required minimum 3 years
NYS Ophthalmic Dispenser license required
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport with patients
Strong knowledge of optical anatomy, lens materials, and frame styles
Vendor and Inventory Management experience
Must be able to develop, track, and achieve sales goals
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Proficient in using optical retail management systems
Knowledge of Insurance and Vision Plans and comfortable working with an EHR system
A clear, effective, and professional communicator breaking down technical terms for patients to easily understand
Knowledge of current and emerging optical market.

Required Licenses: NYS Ophthalmic Dispenser Lic

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of contact lens and fittings
Knowledge of Ophthalmic Testing (Auto Refraction, Eye Pressure, Visual Acuity, and Fundus Photo) to assist an Ophthalmologist
Individual must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Must be organized and pay close attention to detail
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $51,243.96 - $85,407.34 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
