About the Job

The Interior Designer will own the design process and production of interior design documentation. This role works closely with the development, architecture, and construction teams to create thoughtful, cohesive interiors that reflect the project's vision, budget, and branding strategy. The ideal candidate is a design-driven leader with technical acumen and multifamily experience, capable of managing all aspects of design execution within a fast-paced development environment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Design & Drawing Review

  • Lead the interior design vision and concept development for multifamily projects (clubhouses, units, amenities, corridors, leasing, etc.) with direction from the Director of ID.

  • Translate conceptual direction into fully realized design solutions that are aligned with project goals, budgets, and brand positioning.

  • Collaborate with Design Managers throughout the design, documentation, construction, installation and lease-up phases.

  • Lead the interior design process with consultants to ensure compliance in quality, design, and applicable building codes.

  • Manage and mentor younger associate interior designers

  • Coordinate with the procurement team on all FF&E purchases, delivery, and installations.

  • Research interior products, colors, finishes and materials. elect finishes, materials, lighting, and furnishings with a strong focus on quality, durability, and aesthetics appropriate for multifamily residential environments.

  • Responsible for presentation materials for management and financial partners.

  • Assist in submittal and RFI review.

  • Leads vendor presentations.

  • Leads design and document reviews.

  • Assist Director in documenting ID standards and SOP

  • Assist in creation of ID drawing standards and sheet design

  • Support procurement efforts by coordinating FF&E selections, specifications, and documentation.

  • Mentor junior designers and oversee drafting support to ensure consistency and quality in deliverables.

  • Coordinate with the Construction Administration Manager to ensure design intent is carried through into the built environment.

  • SharePoint and Procore drawing, upload management and verification.

Third Party Coordination & Internal Liaison.

  • Communicate with consultants and third-party interior design firms.

  • Works closely with Director of Design, Design Managers, Trades, PreCon, Development, and Investment Management providing support on in-house projects.

Market Trend Analysis

  • Assists Director and Design Management with the collection and coordination of design components/product types for current developments, competitor developments (i.e., flooring, windows, kitchen features, and amenities) and best practices from other product types (single family, hospitality, resorts, etc.).

Non-Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in interior design with advancement toward professional registration preferred.

  • 5-7 years' experience as a member of a design team for multifamily, mixed-use or hospitality projects.

  • NCIDQ/RID preferred

  • Knowledge of interior design specifications, calculations, ADA guidelines and industry standards.

  • A team player who possesses a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a high level of professionalism.

  • Possesses strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

  • Mustust be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.

  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
