Charge Nurse Antepartum- Full Time, Days

Status: Full Time

Shift: First

*Rotating Weekend & Holiday Schedule*

About The Unit:

Antepartum is a ten-bed unit specializing caring for patients withcomplications during pregnancy which include pre-eclampsia, preterm labor,hyperemesis, and other medical issues requiring hospitalization. TheAntepartum unit is staffed with labor and delivery trained nurses. Nurses inthis unit must be willing to float to the Labor and Delivery unit and receiveorientation in both antepartum and labor and delivery.

Job Summary:

The Charge Nurse is an entry-level management position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts.He/she will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care.

A) As a Registerednurse, he/she implements the nursing process for each patient regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric)assigned to his/her care and is responsible for the patient's care within the parameters of the Kentucky NursePractice Act. The charge nurse promotes positive patient outcomes, quality of care and initiates change throughactive involvement in unit-based and hospital shared-governance councils.

B) National Professional NursingStandards serve as guidelines for the charge nurse as he/she utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises
appropriate nursing judgment. The charge nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve patientoutcomes. Also, the charge nurse will serve as a role model by actively participating in the process of continuousprofessional development, teaching and learning across the healthcare continuum.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in nursing required.

  • Active Kentucky RN License required.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification (NRP) required.

  • 2 years of previous Labor & Delivery experience required.
