Senior Human Resources Manager

General Description: Directly reporting to the Director, Human Resources this position is responsible for implementing company-wide HR policies, plans and programs in support of the company's strategic plans. The incumbent will provide HR services and guidance, including but not limited to talent acquisition, on-boarding, compensation/benefits, employee relations, event planning, talent/performance management, learning and development and regulatory compliance for the employees of ACCO (for assigned offices). To be successful in this role, the incumbent must act with professionalism, integrity, discretion, urgency and be responsive to client needs. This role would be responsible for assigned locations.

Supervision: May supervise HR Assistants

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Serve as business advisor/coach to employees and managers of assigned office(s).
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational structure to ensure alignment with business growth.
  • Lead HR support for organizational change initiatives, including restructures, new systems rollouts, and cultural shifts.
  • Support talent acquisition efforts, including background check reviews and interviews with candidates and provide insight into hiring decisions.
  • Manage employee relations cases, corrective action and investigations for assigned client areas.
  • Track and analyze HR KPIs and use data to recommend improvements to programs and processes.
  • Partner with Hiring Manager to develop job descriptions for roles. Provide advice, guidance and counseling to managers and employees regarding employee relations issues.
  • Conduct exit interviews; analyze and provide metrics based on data.
  • Support leave of absence administration and lead the interactive process for accommodations for employees within assigned office(s).
  • Partner with COEs on administration of key activities, including compensation review, training, career development, EEO/AAP planning, management change, and recognition/anniversary programs.
  • Support the development of business initiatives and metrics to drive organizational growth..
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Provides support and guidance to managers and employees on complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations and policy violations and terminations.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; assists with the reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Create (for new offices) and maintain the ACCO culture that promotes compliance with HR regulations and laws.
  • Assist in communications activities in the assigned offices.


Secondary Duties/Requirements:



  • Support Community Giving campaign coordination for assigned office(s) and work with HR team for event planning and campaign activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the HR Director or executive leadership.


Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities):



  • Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources or a related field.
  • Minimum six (6) years' proven and progressive Human Resources experience, including in-house recruitment and 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Must have solid working knowledge of California and federal labor laws that affect employment.
  • High degree of integrity and a sense of compassion for others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and previous experience partnering with executive level leadership.
  • Demonstrated critical and analytical thinking skills and experience with interpreting and analyzing data.
  • Solutions focused - Ability to investigate and identify root cause issues, then craft and implement effective responses/actions.
  • Computer proficiency and experience with MS Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage change in a fast-paced, results driven environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and process management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal/conflict resolution skills combined with solid business acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Must demonstrate a collaborative, innovative, yet pragmatic approach.
  • Must demonstrate strong listening, consulting, facilitation and presentation skills.


Preferred, but not required:



  • Masters-level degree in a job-related concentration (e.g., HR Management, O/D, Business)
  • Prior HR experience within the construction or contracting industries.
  • PHR/SPHR, SHRM- CP/ SHRM SCP (general or California-specific) certification.

Travel:

10-50% of this role will require travel to regional offices.

COMPETITIVE WAGES:

$133,000 to $171,500 Annual Salary. Applicants please note that actual compensation is determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location, among others. The offered wage or salary is only one aspect of an employee's total compensation.
