Overview

The ideal candidate will be an individual with the requisite expertise to support the Cash Operations division within AmTrust North America, Inc. and its affiliate entities in connection with nationwide debt recovery processes for unpaid commercial insurance policy premiums. This includes functions that support the analysis and review of settlement negotiations, civil litigation as well as bankruptcy cases. These matters include, but are not limited to, case assignment to legal staff and workflow management, providing support for the defense of civil suits for recovery of receivables, liaising with national and local counsel on settlements discussions, post-judgment matters, final reconciliation, data analytics and reporting.



Responsibilities

    Leverage your in-depth legal knowledge about commercial business insurance, civil litigation and bankruptcy matters, to support the Accounts Receivable Legal Director and the Cash Operations executives
  • Support the Accounts Receivable Legal Director in governance and monitoring of the legal staff including, but not limited to, drafting and updating process documents, cross training team members and coordinating team workflow patterns
  • Manage incoming lawsuit requests from outside counsel; assign new cases to legal staff
  • Review and approve legal spend within established cost guidelines on civil cases
  • Liaise with outside counsel parties on case preparation, research and review, settlement discussions and negotiations
  • Oversee final reconciliation write off processes on matters deemed fully closed
  • Interact with different business partners at all levels within the company including, but not limited to Operations, Claims, Collections, Underwriting and Premium Audit teams, as relates to case specific research, information gathering, witness preparation and settlement discussions
  • Prepare a variety of data reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually) to help interpret civil litigation cases statuses and translate analyzed data to the Cash Operations executives
  • Special projects as assigned


Qualifications

Required:

  • JD/LLM required
  • Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated experience within either a corporate or law firm setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on data analytics and advanced level Excel reporting
  • Experience with legal operations and legal technology such as matter management software
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross functional teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and process improvement skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be highly organized, exercise critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Capability to manage multiple competing priorities in a high volume, deadline-oriented setting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
  • Flexible, able to work additional hours as needed

Preferred:

  • Insurance experience is preferred but not required.

Location:

This position is currently located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio. The current attendance protocol is hybrid (3 days on site) however, this is subject to change at any time. The candidate must also be comfortable functioning in a remote capacity by way of using Microsoft Teams.
