This position is responsible in assisting in coordinating activities of transportation and material-moving machine and plant helpers. The typical schedule during Production is M-F 5am-4pm. Saturdays are as needed. Typical schedule during Maintenance is M-F 6am-2pm. The starting pay starts at $24.10 and up, depending on experience. EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
- Or one to three months related experience and/or training;
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist workers in tasks such as loading and unloading vehicles by hand or by operating heavy equipment and/or hand tools.
- Compute or estimate transportation, personnel, or storage requirements.
- Confer with customers, supervisors, contractors, or other personnel to exchange information or to resolve problems. Clear and effective communication skills are necessary.
- Direct workers in transportation or related services, such as moving, storing, or loading or unloading of materials. Provide instruction on safety and effectively completing the task.
- Drive vehicles or operate machines or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers in a safe and efficient manner while complying with all federal, state, local and company policies.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations (Federal, state, local and company policies.)
- Examine, measure, or weigh cargo or materials to determine specific handling requirements.
- Explain and demonstrate how to safely perform work tasks to new workers or assign training tasks to experienced workers.
- Inspect or test materials, stock, vehicles, equipment, or facilities to ensure that they are safe, free of defects, and consistent with specifications.
- Perform or schedule repairs or preventive maintenance of vehicles or other equipment. Sometimes performing these at elevated platforms with heavy tools.
- Plan work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation, operations, production and safety requirements.
- Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, production, or work-related accidents while utilizing computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Rail Software, and Word.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, customer services and safety expectations.
- Recommend personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, and safety improvements.
- Requisition needed personnel, supplies, equipment, parts, or repair services.
- Review orders, production schedules, or shipping or receiving notices to determine work sequences and material shipping dates, types, volumes, or destinations.
