Job Description: Job Title: Director, Laboratory Services Full Time 1st Shift Job Description: The Director of the Laboratory is responsible for the development, organization, and ongoing management of all laboratory services. Responsibilities include planning, implementing, evaluating quality care of the department and the hiring, management and development of competent personnel. Establish goals and policies for the department and oversees Quality Management Activities. Responsible for maintaining adherence to the budget. Provides, coordinates and/or participates in multidisciplinary teams involving internal and external members. Serves as liaison between the laboratory and hospital administration. Responsible for appropriate delegation and supervision of the duties for the laboratory staff. Responsible for meeting professional accreditation and licensure standards. - Responsible for creating, reviewing, revising and/or overseeing policies and procedures are current and relevant to laboratory services to ensure practice is compliant with applicable professional accreditation and licensure standards.
- Plans, organizes, delegates and follows-up with assignments to meet goals of the organization.
- Responsible for implementing the strategic plan, programs/projects that will enhance patient care, setting priorities, assigning responsibilities to meet the target deadlines and meet the fiscal goals of the organization.
- Maintains the departmental job descriptions and CBOEs.
- Plans and provides guidance for LIS implementation, education, training and future enhancements.
- Supports Baptist Health System mission, vision, and values.
- Collaborate with other directors to analyze interdepartmental data and develop action plans related to workflow and service delivery.
- Provides or ensures orientation of new employees in a timely manner and documents this orientation and approval to perform assigned tasks.
- Provides remedial training for current employees as required and documents this training.
- Provides performance reviews in a timely manner annually.
- Oversee the performance of tests within the department.
- Enforces safety and infection control policies.
- Actively participates in Laboratory Quality Assurance program.
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree with MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP) or MLT (ASCP) and work experience to meet CLIA 88 standards for general supervisor position.
- Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies.
