Tehama County Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is looking for a safety-conscious Self-Haul Pad Laborer to join our team in Red Bluff, CA!

  • The schedule for this position is Sunday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with the potential for overtime as needed.

  • The starting pay is $21.00 per hour, with the potential to earn up to $23.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet, direct, and assist self-haul customers in safely unloading waste materials including appliances, mattresses, carpet, and various other materials.

  • Redirect customers who are bringing in materials not designated for the self-haul pad-such as metal-only loads-to the appropriate free drop-off or designated disposal area.

  • Provide professional, courteous customer service to all members of the public.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free self-haul pad by picking up debris, sweeping, and cleaning equipment.

  • Perform heavy lifting safely throughout the shift; utilize equipment for heavier materials as required.

  • Safely operate or assist in the operation of site machinery.

  • Manage on-site vehicle and foot traffic to maintain a smooth and safe flow through the pad area.

  • Spot for heavy equipment operators, assist with load guidance, and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.

  • Adhere to and promote all safety standards, including Cal/OSHA regulations, heat illness prevention, and hazard communication protocols.

  • Perform other miscellaneous site duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and exposure to dust, fumes, biohazards, and loud noises.

  • Requires strenuous physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy materials (over 50 pounds), often on uneven terrain.

  • Must follow basic and advanced safety precautions due to exposure to physical and environmental risks.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects safely and repeatedly, up to 75 pounds unassisted.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and meet all eligibility requirements for employment in California.

  • Comfortable working in physically demanding conditions and outdoor environments.

  • Ability to operate or work around heavy equipment and large vehicles safely.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills; team-oriented and dependable.

  • Ability to adhere to work schedules, policies, and company safety standards with integrity and professionalism.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a related labor, construction, or waste operations environment.

  • Upon receiving a job offer, candidates will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment drug test, background check, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPR/First Aid Certification.

  • Cal/OSHA 10 or 30-Hour Certification.

  • Experience with forklifts, skid steers, or other heavy equipment.
