The successful candidate will serve as the long-term substitute mathematics teacher for The Catamount School, working collaboratively in an inclusion model to support high-quality instruction in grades 6, 7, and 8. This position requires active participation in all aspects of the instructional process, including planning, teaching, and assessing mathematics learning aligned to grade-level standards.
Key responsibilities include:
*Collaborating with content-area and EC teachers to plan and deliver engaging, standards-based math instruction for middle grades students.
*Using a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners, including small-group instruction and hands-on learning experiences.
*Assessing student understanding through formative and summative assessments and using data to guide instruction.
*Supporting a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes mathematical thinking and problem-solving.
*Participating as an integral member of The Catamount School's instructional team, contributing to school-wide planning and continuous improvement efforts. |
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position |
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position include an understanding of special education populations in the middle school, the ability to work collaboratively with and plan with teachers and leadership, and the ability to appropriately manage student behavior in the classroom. Excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently are also required. |
Minimum Qualifications |
High School Diploma or
GED. Criminal history clearance, which includes background check and fingerprinting. |
Preferred Qualifications |
- Current licensure in mathematics education or a related field
- Experience teaching mathematics at the middle, elementary, or high school level
