Technical Writer, Air Force, Req. 2205
Lead the development of technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions on US government programs. This position requires the following skills to be effective in completing daily task as a Technical Writer: * Skilled in reviewing drawings, technical manuals, reports, photographs, or documents to ensure compliance with specifications and established Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCR). * Possess the skills to edit drawings or make notes on PDF or CAD data files to correct or clarify specified materials in coordination with designs and details. * Able to coordinate with teams to discuss project scope, requirements, and material preferences and be able to collaborate with production and engineering personnel to review technical schematics. * Able to access manufacturer catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance and service of equipment. * Determine consistency and clarity of style within technical documents and reports meet Technical Order Management Agency (TOMA) established guidelines as outlined in TMCR. * Utilize technical materials and manuals to develop training plans, programs, and course material. Facilitate remote learning and conduct hands-on onsite training. Bachelor of Science Degree in Business desired, Bachelor of Arts Degree in English preferred. Experience: Four years-experience in Technical Writing required; however, a BS or BA degree may be considered in lieu of more experience. Experience leading DoD projects related to Automated Test Systems and Equipment (ATS/ATE) development, integration, testing, and fielding is highly desired. Experience with tools such as Arbor Text Editor, Frame Maker, IETM, S100D is required as a working knowledge of these writing tools will be part of day-to-day tasks. Experience in acquisition and sustainment logistics, developing technical data, training, supply support is sought. Excelling at taking challenges and overcoming obstacles to ensure all goals are met is an integral part of this position. The applicant must be able to work independently without direct daily supervision but is in regular contact with technical staff to clarify meaning, format and style of work. A proven track record of leading the success of teams, applying hands-on approach is necessary for success. Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret Security Clearance. Travel within the US and overseas may be required. |
