Starting Salary Range: $170,000 - $193,000 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.
As MISO's Senior Manager of Data Engineering, you will lead a team of skilled data experts, engineers, and analysts dedicated to establishing a strong foundation and advancing the next generation of data engineering solutions. This team plays a pivotal role in enabling MISO to effectively harness data, driving data strategy and fostering innovation. With the growing emphasis on data-driven decision-making, this position is essential in overseeing the development, and maintenance of engineering practices that supports analytics and business intelligence. What you'll do as MISO's Senior Manager of Data Engineering:
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement, overseeing operations, disaster recovery, vendor partnerships, and cost management.
- Lead the design and scale of modern, cloud-first data platforms leveraging cutting-edge Azure technologies including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Cosmos DB.
- Drive end-to-end delivery of scalable and secure data solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, analytics, and business leaders to solve complex data challenges and enable transformative insights.
- Optimize and automate data pipelines for efficiency, scalability, and real-time performance while managing compute and storage costs.
- Mentor and build a high-performing team of data engineers, providing technical leadership, performance feedback, and career development.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning by upskilling team capabilities, exploring emerging technologies like real-time streaming and Data Box, and building strategic partnerships with vendors and industry leaders to stay ahead of trends.
Experience/Skills needed for our Senior Manager of Data Engineering:
- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field, or at least 12 years relevant technical experience
- Master's degree (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in leading data engineering, digital transformation, cloud technology adoption or DevOps team (demonstrated leadership abilities via mentoring relationships, leading initiatives with strong collaboration, or leading ad hoc teams)
- Expertise in Azure and modern data architectures, including Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, Data Lake, Cosmos DB, and real-time streaming solutions.
- Strong understanding of data engineering best practices, including data warehousing, lakehouses, batch/streaming pipelines, and metadata management.
- Proficient in database technologies, spanning relational (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL systems (Cosmos DB, MongoDB), with experience integrating BI tools like Power BI and Tableau.
- Knowledge of DevOps/DataOps methodologies, including infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, version control (Git), and testing frameworks for scalable data pipeline automation.
Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
