HJF is seeking a Communications Specialist II to provide support to internal or external communications. This role will research, write and edit content for print and online communications vehicles, including articles for newsletters, news articles for the public website, web content, and communication with external news outlets. May support large program or company-wide initiatives.

This position will be in support of NEA: Creative Forces. Provides support to internal or external communications with communication platform management support, research, writing, editing in subject area. May support large program or company-wide initiatives. Develops and implements a coordinated plan to transfer content and tools from existing location on Microsoft Teams and/or the National Resource Center (NRC) to newly identified collaboration platforms.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.


Responsibilities

  • Researches and writes content for print and online communications vehicles, including articles for Creative Forces newsletters, news articles for the NEA website, and web content. Works closely with the Senior Military Medical Advisor (SMMA) and/or Healthcare Operations manager (HCO) in the identification and review of content for transfer or posting on the NEA Website. Maintains up-to-date version of the CF Clinical Research Inventory
  • Support video production for the Creative Forces Clinical Team, including when directed, collaboration with contracted vendors for development of Creative Forces Impact Narratives to final smooth version.
  • Develops and implements a coordinated plan to transfer communication content, tools and files storage (SharePoint) from its existing location on neacreativeforces.org and neacreativeforces.com Microsoft Teams. Primary point of contact Clinical MS Teams platform and manager for the Creative Forces Canvas instance/Global Admin. Interfaces with HJF IT and vendors as directed. Supports clinical team login and troubleshooting, coordinates training, and working with content creators, manages all updates/changes in curriculum for all courses.
  • Proofreads and edits various documents. Prepares press releases and posts for NEA social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) associated with Creative Forces Clinical programming or information about the clinical team. Maintains most up-to-date version of Creative Forces brochures, trifolds, and power point presentations to include relevant branding, copy editing, tagging for NEA and HJF.
  • Provides communications services to various departments. Integrator/supporter of communication by the CF Clinical team among and across different agency platforms (NEA, HJF, DoD, VA).
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Arts Administration, Industrial or Digital Product Design, and /or Program Management.
  • A degree or demonstrated prior work experience in Communications, Journalism, English, or other similar creative writing and/or design field is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Ability to distill complex ideas and scientific information into language appropriate for a lay audience.
  • Very strong interpersonal, research and interview skills.
  • Sharp editorial, proofreading and organizational skills.
  • Strong basic computing skills (IBM-compatible and Mac) and Web skills (familiarity with MS Office Suite including PowerPoint, HTML, etc.).
  • Experience with troubleshooting technology problems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and photo and video editing tools.

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
  • This position will be 100% remote.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $64,200-$85,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
