SUMMARY: The Director of Change Management plays a critical leadership role in driving strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of adaptability across the bank. This role is responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide change management strategies that support product development, major transformation projects, operational improvements, regulatory initiatives, and technology implementations. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives and project leaders, the Director ensures that organizational changes are adopted smoothly and delivers expected benefits. As a regional bank, we are undergoing a period of significant modernization. The Director of Change Management will work cross-functionally to align people, processes, and technologies with our strategic vision. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to design structured change strategies that enhance employee adoption and minimize business disruption. This role requires a proactive, hands-on leader who can assess organizational readiness, mitigate resistance, and create frameworks for long-term cultural alignment. The successful candidate will be experienced in managing change across business units, particularly in regulated financial environments, and will bring a mix of analytical, coaching, communication, and facilitation expertise to guide the organization through complex change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.

  • Design, implement, and continuously refine a comprehensive change management strategy that supports the bank's strategic objectives, ensuring alignment across business units, operations, and support functions.
  • Oversee and coordinate all significant change programs across the organization, including process transformations, technology implementations, regulatory adaptations, and organizational restructures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between executive leadership, business units, and operational teams to ensure consistent messaging, buy-in, and smooth execution of change initiatives.
  • Lead enterprise-level assessments of how proposed changes will affect people, processes, systems, and culture, and develop mitigation plans to address risks and resistance.
  • Establish, maintain and provide training on changing management framework, standards, SOP, tools, and governance structures.
  • Assess change in impact and organizational readiness across business lines and departments.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and communication plans to ensure consistent, transparent messaging.
  • Design and implement training programs, adoption roadmaps, and post-implementation support mechanisms.
  • Serve as a coach and advisor to leaders and project teams on best practices in change leadership.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on change progress and adoption metrics to executive leadership and board committees; identify corrective actions.
  • Foster a change-capable culture by embedding change management disciplines across the bank.
  • Ensure all change initiatives comply with regulatory and risk management standards; collaborate with HR on organizational design, workforce planning, and culture alignment efforts.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or a related field required Master's Degree in Business, Organizational Psychology, or Change Management preferred
EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8--10 years of progressive experience in change management, business transformation, or organizational development preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or advisory role within financial services, preferably in a banking environment preferred
  • Proven track record of managing change on enterprise-scale projects across business and technology domains preferred
  • Experience with Agile delivery models and digital transformation initiatives preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Prosci Change Management Certification or equivalent preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Agile certification (e.g., Scrum Master) is a plus. preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of change management principles, methodologies (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR), and tools.
  • Understanding of the regulatory and operational landscape in banking and financial services.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong strategic thinking paired with operational execution ability.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to lead through ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and drive alignment across complex stakeholder groups.
  • Metrics-driven mindset with the ability to link change initiatives to business outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
  • Proficient in presenting and communicating effectively through remote tools.
  • Skilled at synthesizing complex analytical findings into executive-level communications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage process discovery, modeling, and improvement activities.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, JIRA), and collaboration tools (e.g., Miro, Confluence).
  • Ability to conduct impact analyses and identify change risks.
  • Comfortable facilitating workshops, executive briefings, and training sessions.
  • Skilled in developing communication materials for diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of organizational design, employee engagement, and performance management strategies
