Position Summary
PLEASE NOTE: This position is for the UNM Gallup Branch located in Gallup, NM, approximately 138 miles west of Albuquerque, NM The UNM Gallup Branch, Facilities Maintenance Department, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Facilities Coordinator. The Facilities Coordinator provides facilities management and support services for the UNM Gallup Branch. Ensures the continuity and smooth daily operations of facility by coordinating maintenance, logistics and the activities of internal departments and external vendors. Maintains department files and records. Performs and oversees clerical, marketing, and/or day-to-day public liaison functions associated with the branch. This position follows a standard 40-hour workweek, Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinates the maintenance of facilities, buildings, and equipment, as appropriate, to ensure optimum functionality; identifies, assesses, negotiates as necessary, and resolves building maintenance and usage problems.
- Serves as liaison between facility operations and physical plant operations; recommends correction of deficiencies; coordinates remodeling activities, as appropriate to the position.
- Schedules space usage, controls key issuance and building security; prepares calendars and maintains records.
- Oversees events held at facility; interacts with caterers, and/or auxiliary staff as appropriate to the specific event.
- Oversees and coordinates day-to-day on-site public assistance activities such as security escort, public information, and/or visitor transport services, as appropriate to the position.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting of equipment, as appropriate to the specific position, which may include telecommunications and computer hardware and software.
- Prepares scheduled and periodic reports of facility usage, maintenance, and condition.
- Maintains and orders equipment and supplies for facility operations.
- May operate heavy equipment for grounds maintenance, as appropriate to the specific position.
- May supervise student employees, volunteers and/or interns; may lead lower-graded staff.
- Performs various clerical duties as required, including logging and routing incoming mail, light typing, and preparation of outgoing mail.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Conditions of Employment
- A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
- Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
- Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
- If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
- All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Automated logic Direct Digital Control system operation/program
- C-Cure key control software for facility access/programming
- UNM Banner Finance system including reports
- UNM PCard purchasing, processing and reallocation
- SchoolDude work order and inventory systems
- Facility key control systems and lock/door hardware
- Processing UNM surplus property
- Blueprints, shop drawings, construction documents organizations
Experience in:
- Managing and oversight of a unit motor with more than 15 vehicles including scheduling, preventive maintenance and repairs
- Managing UNM fuel card for fleet of 15-20 accounts
