Position Summary

The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the University of New Mexico seeks a highly motivated team player with a commitment to implementation of research studies examining the potential use of psychedelic assisted therapies for addiction, PTSD, depression and other indication. The position involves working as a study coordinator on the PSIL 301 study of psilocybin for Major Depressive Disorder starting in March 2025 as well as future studies including use of psychedelic assisted therapy for helping with anxiety and adjustment to diagnosis of terminal illness and group psychedelic assisted therapy for PTSD and/or substance use disorders. There may be involvement in additional future studies.

The Science Research Manager will assist with the recruitment, prescreening and screening of potential study participants

The research position may include training in specific psychological assessment measures. Depending on the applicants background three may be an opportunity to use nursing or therapist skills.

Duties include:

  • Overall research study management including regulatory issues, scheduling, and personnel management.
  • Recruitment and screening of research participants. Onsite data collection, including medical records.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data to report findings and deliverables for grant information purposes.
  • Involved in the financial planning to coordinate operational budgets and monitor expenditures.
  • Possible, occasional overnight stays to be available to support participants during required overnight stays or weekend or evening hours.
  • Data entry and management, including the use of clinical trial software including Zelta, Suvoda and RedCap.Advise on new research concepts, protocols and procedures within the field and apply knowledge of relevant scientific practices to our current research projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of technological developments as they relate to the needs of the department and this study.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA, MS , RN or PhD in
    relevant field.
  • Knowledge about REDCap,
    Electronic Data Capture software (e.g.Zelta), Drug management software (
    E.g Suvoda) and survey instruments used in evaluation of psychedelic
    assisted therapy
  • Strong interpersonal skill
    including ability to comfortably work with people during preparation and
    integration from psychedelic therapy
  • Experience working with an
    IRB
  • Experience conducting
    recruitment/screening/assessment with research participants
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Regard for mental health
    and addiction
  • Work independently, self-motivated, detail oriented, responsible, critical thinking skills
  • Experience or demonstrated regard in working with people experiencing addiction including pregnant and postpartum people with opioid use disorder
  • Phlebotomy certification
  • Background in psychology or mental health to
    facilitate training
  • Ability to function as a rater for psychologic assessment
    measures
