Are you ready to lead a team of skilled and dedicated technical writers focused on internal documentation? Snowflake Documentation is currently seeking a Senior Documentation Manager to support a dynamic group of technical writers that are responsible for maintaining high-quality and accurate documentation for internal developer productivity tools and frameworks at Snowflake. In this role, you will collaborate closely with technical writers, engineering teams, and product managers to define and scope content deliverables, establish priorities, and ensure the delivery of a top-tier content experience. As a manager, you will also be hands-on with developing content and content programs to support the team and improve technical documentation quality.

Ideal candidates for this position will possess a strong technical background, exceptional written and oral skills, and extensive experience managing multiple concurrent projects. Previous involvement with developer documentation and exceptional people management abilities are prerequisites for success in this role. Proficiency in at least one of the leading cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), coupled with programming and SQL experience, is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Hire, lead, and cultivate a high-performing team of Technical Writers, fostering their professional growth and development.

  • Strategize and implement content strategies and information architectures to enhance customer satisfaction and usability.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, product management, and data science to drive and evaluate content initiatives.

  • Spearhead content enhancement projects, and establish team and collective objectives to elevate content quality.

  • Identify and implement process efficiencies to streamline documentation workflows.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance internal developer productivity through documentation.

  • Monitor internal customer feedback, determine areas for content improvement, and track key metrics to evaluate documentation effectiveness.

  • Track content and establish processes for updating documentation to keep it relevant and up to date.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years of experience hiring and managing technical writers of all levels.

  • 10+ years creating technical product documentation.

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as technical writing, communications, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.

  • A solid understanding of devops concepts and tools (for example, CI/CD workflows, build tools, etc.).

  • Familiarity with software development methodologies, APIs, programming languages, version control systems, and content management systems.

  • Strong leadership abilities, including communication, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills, are crucial for success in this role.

  • Experience in guiding professional development, providing constructive feedback, and helping team members grow their skills and careers is highly valued.

  • Expert knowledge of the content development lifecycle.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Git and Markdown based authoring.

  • Experience with different programming languages (for example, Java, C++, Go), including the ability to read and write sample code or code snippets.

  • Experience writing for an internal developer audience.

  • Experience building and driving adoption of internal programs.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

  • The estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $230,000.
  • Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
