OVERVIEW

Working under the general direction of the Production Supervisor, the Production Lead schedules, trains, checks, and leads the production and maintenance related work of their designated shift. The Production Lead is responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of all of the production employees staffed on their designated shift, as well as plant security. The Production Lead will be hands on, overseeing the activities of their team while completing day-to-day maintenance, repair, or replacement of facility equipment to ensure manufacturing efficiency, quality, and safety; supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of American Sugar Refining.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations Duties



  • Ensure the safety and drive productivity of all employees assigned to the designated shift by following and enforcing all safety, quality, and packaging procedures.
  • Ensure security of facilities during designated shift hours


  • Train and coach new and existing employees. Participate in and provide feedback for employee performance reviews.


  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocol
  • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). Report all safety, quality, and production related incidents and aid in investigation.


  • Complete lab testing and properly document results in association with quality control. Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce product within specifications.
  • Perform and document all monitoring procedures that are critical to safe quality food.
  • Coordinate shift schedules, production startups, shutdowns, and changeovers. Serve as a back-up for absent employees and shift rotations.
  • Verify that shift paperwork is completed accurately
  • Communicate daily with other Shift Leads and Production Supervisor


  • Serve as liaison between leadership and operators



Maintenance Duties



  • Conduct regular inspections to identify faulty equipment.
  • Ensure facility maintenance is completed as scheduled. Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on all equipment to enhance efficiency and prevent malfunctions
  • Must be on standby to repair machines that develop mechanical problems
  • Maintain records of maintenance and activities


  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously by prioritizing and planning work activities
  • Troubleshoot, adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications
  • Perform welding activities when required
  • All other duties as assigned



WORK EXPERIENCES



  • 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance and/or lead role required
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment with exposure to FDA and SQF regulations preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to accept and respond to changes and challenges in a positive manner
  • Proven ability to lead a team, meet goal, and demonstrate conflict resolution
  • Forklift Certification Preferred



EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY



  • This position serves as the lead for the designated shift



ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)



  • Microsoft office and PC skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with experience in manufacturing
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and make sound decisions regarding resource utilization and needs.
  • Results oriented, process improvement focused
  • Knowledge of basic math is required
  • Able to work extended hours and weekends as needed, especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met
  • Must be able to climb ladders and examine work that may be conducted in high elevations
  • Must be able to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50lbs



HOURLY RATE: $20.38+ (based on experience) plus shift differential
