Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Join the CMO Innovation Lab at MSKCC as a Computational Biologist II!

The CMO Innovation Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Computational Biologist II to join our dynamic team. Our lab is at the forefront of clinical cancer genomics, leveraging cutting-edge computational and experimental techniques to develop novel diagnostic tools. We focus on developing methods for analyzing next-generation sequencing data to identify biomarkers of cancer progression and therapeutic response. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful translational research in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment, working alongside experts in molecular oncology, bioinformatics, and clinical diagnostics.

Role Overview:
* Interpret and review next-generation sequencing (NGS) data from patient tumor samples in order to participate in experiment design to support ongoing development efforts.
* Develop, optimize, and maintain computational pipelines for processing and analyzing a variety of large-scale genomic datasets including DNA, RNA and methylation approaches.
* Evaluate and benchmark emerging sequencing technologies, assays, and computational tools for clinical and research applications.
* Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including oncologists, pathologists, and data scientists to drive translational cancer research.
* Design and implement bioinformatics strategies to support biomarker discovery and therapeutic target identification.
* Assess and integrate third-party software tools into existing analysis workflows.
* Maintain comprehensive documentation of analyses, pipelines, and results for reproducibility and regulatory compliance.
* Present findings in lab meetings, collaborative discussions, and scientific forums.
* Engage in continuous learning through seminars, workshops, and literature to stay current with advances in cancer genomics and computational biology.

Key Qualifications:
* PhD in a bioinformatics- or molecular biology-related field with 4+ years of work experience.
* 4+ years of experience in next-generation sequencing and cancer genetics.
* Strong analytical skills with a cross-disciplinary approach.
* Fluency in Python and/or R is required.

Core Skills:
* Expertise in bioinformatics tools and techniques.
* Knowledge of NGS-focused molecular biology tools and practices.
* Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
* Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

* Schedule: Hybrid, 1+ days onsite

* Reporting to: Head of CMO Innovation Lab
