Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati seeks to hire an Executive Director to lead the UC Real Estate Center. The UC Real Estate Center has an established national reputation for excellence in its academic programs, research, and professional outreach. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic leadership team focused on growing the impact and presence of the Center and academic program on a national stage as the University embarks on its Next Lives Here Capital Campaign.

The UC Real Estate Center is located within the nationally ranked Lindner College of Business and this position combines the opportunity to coordinate the interaction of real estate industry leaders, government officials, faculty, and university students. The Executive Director will report to the Head of the Department of Finance and the Senior Director for Lindner Centers and Institutes. The position is for can be between 30 hours per week (75% FTE) 40 hours per week (100% FTE), and includes health and other benefits. It may be possible for someone holding this position to participate directly in classroom education through an affiliated adjunct professor role in the Lindner College of Business.

Such responsibilities will be treated separately from this role and will be negotiated directly with the Academic Director of Real Estate and Head of the Finance Department. Such a role may include service on Lindner College committees dealing with teaching and academic program development.

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office/2 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions

  • Direct a broad range of activities and functions to ensure effective operations and the achievement of Lindner College of Business objectives
  • Formulate budget and/or monitor expenditures in accordance with university rules, and federal and state regulations.
  • Prepare budget reports for internal and external requirements.
  • Evaluate operational activities to ensure compliance and make recommendations.
  • Act as liaison with internal and external constituents. partners and the Board of Executive Advisors in Real Estate (BEARE) members to grow the financial support for the Real Estate Center and Program.
  • Work with the Academic Director of the Real Estate Program to implement the strategic plan developed, adopted and aligning with the goals and objectives of the University of Cincinnati's Next Lives Here Capital Campaign, as well as ensure seamless, ongoing interaction between the Center and the academic Program.
  • Manage the staff and budget of the UC Real Estate Center to execute the adopted strategic plan



These activities may require occasional travel and work on nights and weekends, and will include:



  • Working with the Real Estate Executive Advisory Committee (REEAC) to produce monthly roundtable meetings from October to May, and an annual awards dinner the beginning of June.
  • Oversee twice yearly meetings with the Executive Committee of the Board of Executive Advisors in Real Estate (BEARE) as well as twice yearly meetings of the Board as a whole.
  • Work with the University of Cincinnati Real Estate Association (UCREA), the student led real estate organization, with their three primary engagement efforts: UCREA Speaker Series, Corporate site visits and the annual mentorship program.
  • Promotion of the academic real estate program to current and future students.
  • Developing high-quality professional development seminars and programs to advance the careers of alumni and local industry participants.
  • Assist with organizing and running the annual Real Estate Career Fair

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Seven (7) years of management experience that must include three (3) years of supervision.

Additional Qualifications Considered

A suitable candidate will have an advanced degree in finance, real estate or business administration, and have at least 10 years of professional experience in a commercial real estate related industry.

An ideal candidate would have excellent written and verbal communication skills, work in collaborative teams, and be able to develop and maintain professional relationships with partners in the academic and business community. Relevant real estate related certifications a plus.
