Attorneys must be barred in the state where they reside and in a state where DWT maintains an office.
The chosen resource will assist the firm's Real Property practice group with a large number of real estate finance transactions for clients, including drafting loan-related and other documents, handling title and survey reviews, and reviewing and summarizing subordinate financing sources and restrictive covenants documents.
This contract position offers the flexibility of remote work and an anticipated 20 hours/week. Hours may fluctuate depending on the availability of appropriate work. This contract role will provide temporary attorney coverage for an anticipated 3-4 month initial engagement. There is a possibility of an extension of the contract for additional months for successful candidates, although any extension or renewal is not guaranteed and will be based on attorney coverage needs. We are looking for attorneys interested in establishing an alternative-track working relationship with the firm on an exclusive basis.
The ideal candidate will have:

  • Residency in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, TN, TX, VA, WA, and WDC.
  • Attorneys must have active bar admission in their state of residence and a state in which DWT maintains an office.
  • Strong drafting skills and experience managing loan transactions, including financing and deal closings.
  • Availability to work part-time hours, 20 hours per week.
  • Flexibility for anticipated hours to fluctuate as needed.
  • Ability to work remotely and quickly handle high volume programmatic legal matters.
  • Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Excellent proactive communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships and communicate verbally and in writing, with clients, firm members, and other business contacts.
Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWT's flexible attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role is not benefitted. Due to the structure of the DWTSurge program, DWTSurge employees are not eligible for the firm's pro bono, DEI, and other activities or opportunities outside of the above stated scope of work. We are interested in candidates electing to pursue a more flexible way of providing continuous, high-value legal services to the firm and our clients.
