Staff Software Engineer, Perception Foundation Model

The mission of the Waymo AI Foundations team is to develop machine learning solutions addressing open problems in autonomous driving, towards the goal of safely operating Waymo vehicles in dozens of cities and under all driving conditions. As part of our work, we also initiate and foster collaborations with other research teams in Alphabet. AI Foundations areas that we are currently focusing on include reinforcement learning, learning from demonstration, generative modeling, Bayesian inference, hierarchical learning, and robust evaluation.

You will:

• Lead the infrastructure implementation and system integration for perception foundation models
• Drive the system-wide deployment of perception foundation models for various applications
• Collaborate with Perception, Mapping, and other teams to advance AV perception capabilities

You have:

• 5+ years of experience in building and deploying large-scale ML systems
• Hands-on experience in developing and launching large-scale ML systems for real-world applications
• Strong track record of coordinating and driving the deployment of infrastructure for large-scale ML systems
• Track record of strong collaboration and communication

We prefer:

• Good understanding of deep learning models and large-scale ML systems
• Self-driven and being able to drive projects forward when facing challenges
