Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer to be a part of Commodity Futures Trade Commission (CFTC) Data Engineering and Processing (DEAP) team. Peraton serves as a valued partner to essential government agencies across the intelligence, space, cyber, defense, civilian, health, and state and local markets. What you'll do:

The Software Engineer will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

    Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of software.
  • Ensures software standards are met. Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.
  • Participate in database planning and design
  • Responsible for implementation support for data/records management.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and 8 years of experience or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics and 6 years of experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • At least three (3) years of experience working as an analyst at a financial services related organization on financial data from a CFTC regulated entity (e.g., swap data repositories, swap execution facilities, derivatives clearing organizations, designated contract markets, swap dealers, futures commission merchants), or another US federal agency, with preference at a US federal financial regulator (e.g., SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, OCC).
  • Experience performing business analysis and design, including planning and facilitating design sessions, gathering requirements and converting to design documents.
  • At least one (1) year of experience using:
    • Global Risk, FirmRisk software;
    • SQL, PostgreSQL;
    • Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, SQL Server Management Studio;
    • SAS, SAS Enterprise Guide, SAS Viya;
    • AWS, including QuickSight, Redshift, SageMaker, with a focus on data analytics and visualization;
    • Python, including the following Python packages/libraries/modules: QuantLib, SciPy, datetime, pandas, NumPy, zipfile, glob, os, sys, gc, math, traceback, dash, plotly);
    • Python development experience in both an IDE (such as Spyder) and Jupyter Notebook;
    • Data visualization using programming languages, (e.g. Python or R), or commercial tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, Tableau, JMP, or Amazon Web Services (AWS) QuickSight; and
    • Large (over 1 billion row) databases and developing efficient querying, aggregation, and analysis tools for these datasets. Experience working with data of this magnitude should be across multiple data environments, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, and local files. The contractor should have the ability to make sense of nonstandard or incomplete/inconsistent data with minimal guidance. Expertise in extract-transform-load (ETL) and data cleanup/anomality detection is also strongly preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts in a financial services organization.
  • Experience in technical writing and presentation.
  • Functional experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server/Azure DevOps Server, JupyterHub, Tableau, R, RStudio, Bloomberg Professional/Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon (LSEG Workspace), and MATLAB.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
